Autumn 1
To celebrate Halloween, the children created their own ghost pictures. They had fun getting their hands covered in paint.
Ghost painting
The children had fun this afternoon doing some halloween printing. They used apples that had been cut in half, dipped in orange paint and stamped them onto paper to make a pumpkin shaped print.

Clay Hedgehogs
The children had the opportunity to make their own clay hedgehogs linked to our class book. They had to roll and manipulate the clay to get the desired shape. Then they added matchsticks for the spike. They created eyes by poking a small hole using the pointy end of a pencil.
Edible stickmen
We have been looking at the story of The stickman in class had fun being creative when we used different foods to create a stickman of our own. We used a mini roll for the body chocolate matchsticks for the arms and legs and then used icing to attach some edible eyes. The children enjoyed the making of them but enjoyed the tasting of them more.
Sensory Circuit
Each morning in the Orchard, our children engage in a sensory circuit. They work through all areas of sensory development. Our activities include bouncing, spinning, balancing and more.
Owl babies- making our own owls out of toilet roll tubes
Owl babies- First we painted our toilet roll tubes, then we added glue to attach googly eyes, a beak and feathers for the wings.
Chocolate nests
We had a great time making chocolate nests. We crushed up some cereal and then poured in melted chocolate. The children got to mix it together and even take a sneaky taste...in fact more was eaten than ended up in the cases.
Balloon fun
Our children were introduced to and explored simple forces such as push and gravity. They did this using balloons and had great fun at the same time.
Leaf collecting
Our Orchard children spent some time in the Forest School area. They were exploring and collecting leaves to use in a craft activity.
