Spring 1

To celebrate Valentines Day, the children used their hands or feet to create a nice print in a heart outline. These made great gifts for them to take home and share the love.

This week we have been looking at fruit. The children were given a large board with fruit outlines and some pictures to identify the colours that they would need to use. The children then used a vast variety of materials and textures to create an eye-catching fruit board and it looks fabulous.

We used coloured squares to decorate a hot air balloon in a mosaic style pattern. The children enjoyed being able to choose the colours that they wanted to use. The end results were bright and colourful. Well done everyone!

The children in the Orchard were able to choose their own toppings to go on their pizzas. They used a safe knife to chop some of the softer ingredients and positioned the toppings where they wanted them. Once all the toppings had been put on the pizzas, the children went through to Meadows to put their pizzas in the oven. They all had a fun time making them and some even enjoyed the tasting, once they had been cooked.

In the Orchard, we have been having a push on personal hygiene. The children took part in an interactive activity about the process of hand washing. They had to put the steps in the right order. Once they had completed the activity, we moved over to the sink to put it into practice. We were reminding ourselves along the way of what comes next to ensure we doon't miss any of the steps.

Our class text for this half term is Up and Down. We linked one of our Attention Autism sessions to the book by burying pictures of the principal characters under straw. The children then had to dig to find the characters. After a while, we cut the pictures in to more pieces to increase the challenge.
