Week Commencing 12th December 2022

This week we have been really busy on the lead up to Christmas. On Tuesday we were very lucky to attend a pantomime based on Aladdin, which was so fun. On Wednesday, we had our Christmas dinner and during the rest of the week completed Christmas themed activities in provision. We are all ready for our half term break after a very, very busy few weeks!

Week Commencing 5th December 2022

This week we have been really busy with all of our Nativity performances. We really enjoyed singing and retelling the story of Christmas. It was also very nice to have people returning to school to participated in whole school events after the pandemic. Later in the week, we also invited our parents and carers in to participate in a Christmas craft morning. There was a great deal of festive fun had this week!

Week Commencing 28th November 2022

This week in English we looked at using our knowledge of the emergency services to write a recount of their visit to school. In maths we also recapped common 2D shapes, thinking about their properties and where we might find them within the environment. Project work was really exciting as we invited parents into school for an investigation convention. It was great to show off our work to our parents / carers. One for Chilean also go to visit Father Christmas and his reindeer.

Week Commencing 21st November 2022

This week we have continued to look at our whole text The Everywhere Bear. We have thought about all the places the bear had been and used these ideas to write short sentences. In maths we have looked at many different ways of investigating one more and one less. In Project we had an amazing opportunity to meet the local police officers and firefighters. It was so much fun looking at their vehicles and tools.

Week Commencing 14th November 2022

This week we have continued to look at our whole text The Everywhere Bear. We have thought about what it would be like to get lost at sea and used this description to create a short poem. In maths we have used fives frames to investigate different ways to make 4 and 5, which was really tricky. In Project we have focused on amazing transportation machines and looked at how vehicles have changed over time. We would also like to thank all of our families for supporting Children In Need 2022, this year. All your donations really do help to support those who are in need.

Week Commencing 7th November 2022

This week we have continued our phonics learning and now have been taught an additional 4 letters (graphemes x, w, y, v) and their sounds (phonemes). This is helping us to read phrases containing some tricky words. In English, we have continued looking at our whole class text, The Everywhere Bear. We now know that the bear has been lost by Matt so have been working hard to help him find class one’s bear through creating a lost poster. In maths, we have looked the the properties of shapes. We focused on triangles and circles. Our project this term is all to do with marvellous machines so we have been continuing to look at a wide range of machines and talking about how they work.

Week Commencing 31st October 2022

This week we have continued our phonics learning and now have been taught an additional 4 letters (graphemes) and their sounds (phonemes). This is helping us to read phrases containing some tricky words. In English, we have been looking at our new whole class text, The Everywhere Bear. We have begun to think about what might happen in the book through making predictions based upon illustrations. In maths, we have continued to broaden our knowledge of numbers to 3, looking at subtilising and counting forwards and backwards by one (more and less). Our projects this term is all to do with marvellous machines so we have been looking at a wide range of machines and talking about their uses. In our classroom we now even have a time machine!
