World Book Day 2025!

Wednesday 26th February 2025

Dogs Trust

This week we took part in an assembly and workshops from the Dogs Trust. Within this we learnt about how to safely approach dogs when out and about and how to get an unfamiliar dog’s permission to stroke them when exploring. We also learnt to cross ours arms, stand still and look away if an unknown dog approaches us to keep ourselves safe. In our workshops we learnt about the importance of the ABC of dogs…Affection, Busy and Choice and how each of these keeps us safe around dogs and keeps our dogs happy and loved too! Using the information we reflected on what we have learnt and what we are going to promise to do to be safer around dogs and keep our dogs happy and safe too!

Today, the children took part in their first session of their Linking School project. The children met their linking partner from Alkrington Primary for the first time at the M6 Theatre. The children enjoyed a full day of games, activities and drama. The children interacted and got to know their linking buddy. They were also lucky enough to watch a theatre performance of ‘Tiger’s Tales’ which was fantastic!

On Tuesday, Year 3 took part in a Stone Age Workshop. Our visitors came to show us how Stone Age people lived and we were even able to try on Stone Age clothes. We had the opportunity to look at artefacts from thousands of years ago and learnt how they made different foods and built their homes. We had a super fun day and learnt so much!
