Forest School
This week we have been looking at Remembrance Day and looking at how we could make an area within Forest school to remember those who lost their lives. The children in Meadow's made some poppies out of recycled bottles during their afternoon learning sessions and the children who accessed Forest school this week practised their knots to make them hang from our trees. They look lovely and are a great way to remember our fallen soldiers.
Autumn 2: This term we will be looking at all things nature! We will be looking at celebrating Diwali, poppy activities for Remembrance day and how to look after our wildlife.
Week 8- munchkin pumpkin bird feeders
This week we used pumpkins to make hanging bird feeders for the birds in Forest school. The children scooped all of the pumpkin guts out, placed 2 sticks through the pumpkin and then filled the inside with bird seed. They then helped to attach some string and hang it from a tree. They look amazing and the birds will love them.
Week 7- What’s a stick? This week the children are looking at sticks in the Forest school area. I handed the children a stick and asked them what it was, some of the answers were amazing. The children didn’t see the stick as just a stick from a tree but saw them as Harry Potter wands, planes, rockets, building materials and having magical powers. Some of the children used different sticks to write their names, scratch words into the mud or build different items. What a great imaginations our children have.
Week 6: This week we gathered some sticks at Forest school, crossed them over and we secured them in place with a knot. The children wrapped different coloured wool around his worry dolls. Some of the children made 2, 1 for school and 1 for at home. Luke said he is going to use these when he’s feeling stressed or worried.
Week 5: Leaf and tree identification.
The children used a leaf guide to search the fallen leaves around our Forest school area to see if they could identify the trees we have. This worked really well and the children found many of they trees on their key.
Week 4: This week we have been making mosiac bird feeders, more clay printing and lots of muddy, mud kitchen play.
Week 3: This week in Forest School we have been looking at all the different fallen leaves. Some of our children have been making pictures of themselves out of leaves and others making leaf prints into clay. It was really interesting looking at all the details the leaves left in the clay.
2024-2025 Forest school
Week 2:
This is our first full week back in school and we have a bit of tidying up to do in the Forest school area. We have been restoring our bug hotel, clearing the area of any rubbish and fallen leaves and also removing a tree stump. It has been a really good start to the new school year.
