Reception

February 2024

Reception have been making their own band in music lessons. We have all played different percussion instruments and tried to play together and in time. We also tried to make quiet and loud sounds.

October 2023

We have had a fantastic start in music in Reception. We have been visiting the music room every Tuesday with Mrs Walsh and have been learning to sing some of our favourite nursery rhymes.

We have also been experimenting with some instruments. Here we have added sounds to one of our stories. We are going on a bear hunt! It sounded fantastic!

July 2023

In music this term we have been singing songs based on our topic under the sea. We have learnt two songs by 'The Beatles' and some pirate songs too. We really enjoyed 'Yellow Submarine'.

Reception classes have been singing lots of spring time songs. We have really enjoyed our mini beast selection and also have been learning the Spring Chicken song which is one of our favourites. We have also played chime bars and tried to play them together as a class.

Children in reception classes have been learning about different 'pitched' instruments. We have been playing boomwackers to explore this. The longer ones played low sounds and the smaller ones high. We have been playing rhythms and finding pulse in music.

we have also been singing songs by The Beatles.
