Spring 2

Week Commencing Monday 25th March 2024

What an amazing last week of the Spring term we have had!

We absolutely loved our trip to the Science and Industry Museum. We explored the Stephen Hawkins area, the cotton mill and had lots of fun with the interactive games. We looked at different types of technology and transport and had a go at completing out trip booklets to share what we have learnt.

We finished the week with a fabulous Easter bonnet parade, we loved sharing our creations and the effort that has gone into these bonnets is just fantastic!

Have a lovely Easter holidays smiley

Week Commencing Monday 18th March 2024

This week we have been busy completing our NFER assessments in reading and mathematics. Although we have found this tricky we have shown resilience and determination to complete these using all our super knowledge. To end the week, we celebrated World Math's Day. We linked this to art using different materials to decorate numbers. We also used 2D and 3D shapes to create pictures. We thoroughly enjoyed this!

Week commencing Monday 11th March 2024

What a busy week we have had here at Woodland!

We started by celebrating British Science Week by carrying out a test to see which exercises raised our heart rate the most. We had so much fun doing these exercises outside and found that sprinting gave us the most beats per minute.

We then celebrated Red Nose Day, we created our very own red nose designs and enjoyed coming to school wearing red. Finally, we finished our week by celebrating the Spanish festival 'Las Fallas De Valencia'. We created some amazing masks and did some fantastic Spanish dancing. We have thoroughly enjoyed our week!

Week Commencing Monday 4th March 2024

This week we have continued to explore our English text 'A Walk in London'. We have created character and setting descriptions with the use of adjectives and conjunctions. We have enjoyed exploring numbers to 50 and using base 10 to partition tens and ones. We challenged ourselves to write the addition sentence to match. We have also enjoyed World Book Day where we dressed up in our favourite book characters or pyjamas. We created some fantastic story maps based on our fable 'The Ant and the Grasshopper'.

Week Commencing Monday 26th February 2024

We have had a fantastic week to start our new half term. In Science, we have enjoyed creating wind socks and testing them. We used different materials to make them. In Mathematics, we have been introduced to numbers to 50. We practiced counting in 10's and putting them into groups to demonstrate our counting skills.

In English, we have been introduced to our new text 'A walk in London', we have enjoyed recapping the London landmarks and using our bank of adjectives and conjunctions to describe and extend our sentences.
