Week Commencing 22nd May 2023
In English this week, we continued to look at our short text Omar and The Bees. We really enjoyed finding out so much about bees so we used this information to write a non-chronological report. We are really focusing on more independent writing now, holding a sentence in our heads and focusing on writing one word at a time. In phonics we have continued to recap and build on our sight recognition of phase 4 tricky words and those containing all the grapheme phoneme correspondences taught so far. In project, we continue our mini project Creep Crawl and Wriggle. As a special surprise we also got a special visit from some mini-beasts! It was very exciting but we were all very brave at handling them.
Week Commencing 15th May 2023
In English this week, we looked at our new text Omar and The Bees, which looks at how bees are good for fruits and seeds to grow. We have used this book to think about the different fruits we like. In English, developed some instructions to make a fruit salad. It was so much Fun! In phonics we have continued to recap and build on our sight recognition of phase 4 tricky words and those containing all taught GPCs but with a particular focus on the suffixes -ed and -est. In Maths, we have continued telling number stories using first, then and now but this time thinking about taking away. In Project, we are now doing our mini project ‘Creep Crawl and Wiggle’ so have been looking at a range of mini beasts and their homes (habitats). We also wore green on Thursday to support mental health awareness. Thank you to all of our parents and carers who donated to this cause.
Week Commencing 9th May 2023

In phonics we have continued to recap and build on our sight recognition of phase 4 tricky words and those containing all taught GPCs. In Maths, we have practised telling number stories using first, then and now. In Project, we researched more about the habitats of different animals especially those within Africa, which linked with our writing.

In English this week, we have been looking at our brand new text The Lion Inside. We have enjoyed reading this new narrative and getting to know the story which incorporates the use of rhyming. In phonics we have continued to build on our sight recognition of phase 4 tricky words and are writing sentences containing all the taught grapheme phoneme correspondence. In maths, we have begun to broaden our knowledge of numbers, looking at the composition of teen numbers to 15. Our projects this term are Animal Safari and Creep, Craw and Wiggle so we have been looking at a range of different animals, whilst discussing similarities and differences between those animals that live in Africa and those as pets.
