Good Bye and Good Luck
The year 1 team would like to wish the children and their families a lovely Summer break. We hope you have a well deserved relax and we cannot wait to see you in September!
Blue Planet Aquarium
To finish off our time in year 1 the children got to experience going on a trip to Blue Planet Aquarium. This was linked to our Science topic on Animal Parts. The children had a fun filled day looking at different sea creatures, experiencing an Aqua Show and also taking part in a classroom session based upon habitats. The children’s favourite part of the day was going through the shark tunnel where they got to see the animal’s habitats in real life. We enjoyed it so much that we went through twice! We had so much fun and we are already looking forward to venturing out on another trip in year 2!
Week Commencing Monday 8th July 2024
This week we have been busy exploring James Rizzi as part of our art project 'street view'. We carefully created some ocean pictures using water colours. We added lots of detail to our pictures and used fine paint brushes to ensure it was very neat.
We also enjoyed our Victorian tea party, we made jam sandwiches and topped our rich tea biscuits with whipped cream. It was amazing!
Week beginning: Monday 8th July 2024- This week the children have enjoyed darwing their own creations based on the artisit James Rizzi, the children used watercolours to paint their drawings.
Week beginning 24th June 2024: Year have made fruit kebabs as part of their chop lice and mash Design and Technology lesson! They enjoyed chopping and tasting all the fruit.
17/06/2024- Exploring artefacts! Year 1 were lucky enough to be given some Artefacts from as far back as 1934! The children enjoyed guessing what the objects were used for.
Week Commencing Monday 11th June 2024
This week was our super Sports Day! We absolutely loved taking part in all the different races and were so good at working as a team. Our favourite race was the egg and spoon as we had to balance the egg and we found this quite tricky but did very well! We also have been enjoying our music lessons with the boom whackers and trying to hit them to the beat 
Week Commencing Monday 3rd June 2024
We had a lovely first week back in Year 1. We thoroughly enjoyed our art lesson where we used corrugated card to create a house picture. We used this to create a 3D effect and they turned out amazing! We started our new block in Mathematics - Place Value to 100 where we used Base 10 to represent how many tens and how many ones were in numbers to 100. We used a table to help us identify each part of a given number.
