PSHE - Changing Me

This half term we are exploring the changes we face both in our lives and with our bodies. This week we explored the 'circle of change' and shared any changes we faced and how we would approach them. The 'circle of change' includes five key stages:

1. Thinking about

2. Deciding 

3. Preparing

4. Taking action

5. Keeping it going. 

Secrets of a Sun King - Instructions

As part of our English text we explored the process of mummification. We then looked at the features of instructions and how to mummify a body in Ancient Egyptian times. We enjoyed learning about key parts such as removing body parts and how amulets protect the body. We then created our own detailed instructions! 

Islamic Art

As part of our Art and Design project this half term we have been exploring Islamic Art. We explored how Islamic art makes objects beautiful with pattern and shape. It does not depict people. Features of Islamic art include calligraphy, arabesque and geometric patterns. Islamic art decorates many surfaces, including the walls and ceilings of mosques. We created our own artwork using geometric shapes, compasses and 2D shapes. We explored patterns and colour to create our designs.
