Summer 2

Life-size number line

We drew a number line on the floor and then the children were given operations and a number. They had to use their whole body to make the jumps, once they had worked out which way they needed to jump. This was a fun, physical way to learn about addition and subtraction.

Shadow matching

Our children have been using many different resources to explore shadows, from torches to pictures. They have matched colourful images to their silhouette. Everyone did a great job!

Rainbow painting

We used a laminated sheet and painted our rainbows onto it. We talked about how it is the light that makes the colours on the rainbow. Our rainbow then became sun catches in our class windows. This allowed the light to shine through them too.

Different Occupations

We have been looking at different jobs that people do. We have been learning about what vehicles they use and where they work. We have also been developing our ICT skills by using an interactive activity on the whiteboard where we had to drag images around to drop them into the correct boxes.

Light reflection

We have been using torches in our class this week. The children have been exploring how the light looks different depending on the surface they point it at. They have also experienced how the circle of light it creates, gets bigger and smaller as you get closer and further away.

All things shiny

Our children have been exploring a wide variety of objects that can be used to see a reflection. They have been examining them in great detail, using other senses to see what noises they make and how they feel too.

Lighthouses

We have been looking at sources of light, so we did some art work of lighthouses. The children had to stack the pieces to build up the lighthouse and then add features such as: light, door and windows.
