Year 1

In line with the national curriculum, there is a statutory requirement for children in KS2 to learn a foreign language. At Woodland Community Primary School, children entering KS2 will have a basic foundation in MFL learning, thanks to the provision and experiences provided in EYFS and KS1. There is no statutory requirement for children in EYFS or KS1 to learn a foreign language so it is not taught weekly.

Las Fallas De Valencia

Our Year 1 children took part in craft activities alongside some of our Year 2 children to create masks for a traditional Spanish festival.

What is Las Fallas De Valencia?

Whilst thousands of festivals are celebrated all over Spain throughout the year there are only a few that bring overseas visitors specifically for the event. The Fallas fiesta, which takes place in Valencia from 15th to the 19th of March every year, is undoubtedly one of those ‘super-festivals’ attracting many visitors. All day, you’ll see processions and hear organised pyrotechnical explosions all over the city, especially in Valencia’s main square, the Plaza Ayuntamiento. There is a great party atmosphere.
