Pride Month Week 2 - 12.06.2023-16.06.2023

This week, we have been discussing the importance of diversity. On Monday's assembly with Mrs Cunningham, our Head Teacher, we looked at the meaning of diversity and all of the amazing, diverse identities and characteristics we have within our school community.

This week's activity was for each class to contribute towards making a whole school Woodland Pride flag. Each year group was given a different colour to focus on and the creative license to be as tactile and experimental as they wish. The children loved trying different textures and materials to make their very own piece of the flag.

Pride Month - Week 1- 05.06.2023-09.06.2023

This week, we began our Pride Month celebrations with an assembly lead by Mrs Cunningham, our Head Teacher. We spoke about what it means to be proud of ourselves and how we celebrate others.

For our activity this week, the children created their own Pride bunting and shared what makes them feel proud.

We also celebrated the work and life of Jacqueline Wilson, a famous LGBT+ author, with a range of posters and fact-files.

Pride Month - June 2023

As part of our continued commitment towards developing our inclusive school and curriculum, this month we will be celebrating Pride. Throughout the month of Pride, we will be engaging in a range of assemblies and activities where we will learn about what makes us different and unique, celebrating people for being true to who they are and showing our respect and support for the LGBT+ community. Topics will include:

  • Learning about different families.
  • Learning about different relationships.
  • Learning about LGBT+ Pride.
  • Learning about the importance of the rainbow flag.
  • Celebrating our differences and what makes us proud to be ourselves.
  • Considering ways in which we can support others.

Below is a menu of activities and thematic events which will take place throughout June.
